So it seems BB have sort gone official with their 1st Android based smartphone, which was codenamed Venice and is officially known as the Priv. They posted an official video showing the main features of the phone which include a vertical slide out QWERTY keyboard, a 5.4inch dual edge QHD display, Snapdragon 808 CPU with the Adreno418 GPU, 3GB RAM, 32GB Internal memory and MicroSD slot, along with an 18MP camera with a Sony sensor featuring OIS and a large 3410mAh battery. The Priv comes with stock Android 5.1.1 out-the-box and is accompanied by BB Hub. Carphone Warehouse are already taking preorders.

I like it but I certainly won't get it. BB should have done this 2 years ago, a tad bit late now. * +

I saw a video I think was about this phone where they criticised RIM for calling it a highly secure device and thus inspiring hackers to ''come and have a go at it''... * +

A pull out keyboard? Yes a bit too late think most people are used to a touch screen keyboard by now, even the die hard fans have converted * +

(sarcastic) RIM realised the only way to make money is going the android route,,their bb10 devices werent really flying of the shelves * +

Reason why BB10 devices didn't sell is most BB users still want the BIS service which is lost in BB10. Here in RSA the network operators claimed to sell a BIS10 bundle but it was not from RIM it was the network operators themselves on a fair use policy with a throttled speed limit so ppl over here still just used normal data bundles. I still use my BB9900 as a daily phone and for downloads also still have my playbook and I can even sideload android apps onto it (if you go into the playbook system u will find an android folder so even back then it was android friendly) my other phone is an android Hisesense that's still running 4.1.1 and I mostly use it for torrent downloads over wifi * +
