I'm abit confused between the two. Given that the z3 compact is out now does it make sense to take out a contract on the z1 compact. Only price difference is 50 bucks a month. Both are so similar that it kinda dsnt make sense to go for the pricey z3. While on the other spectrum the small additions and newer phone means i will still be holding onto a top end device come next upgrade 2yrs down the line. Older and cheaper or newer and pricey * +

Z3 Compact is better than the Z1 counterpart. As a Z2 user, I a know why I didn't get the Z1 phone. The Z1 is lower on processing, memory and viewing angles. Plus the daytime brightness for that phone isn't good. I would advise you to get the Z3 Compact. * +

The Z3 is worth the extra 50 per month just for the sheer amount of battery life it has, you must realise the Z1 Compact was more a 'testing the waters' phone, the Z3 is the real deal, thanks to its far more power efficient Display and Snapdragon 801 CPU which also brings eMMC5.0 support, meaning much faster Memory read/write speeds, which make the Z3C a lot more 'futureproof' and less prone to slowdown. The Z1C also had build quality issues that the Z3C fixes, including a higher water and dust proof rating (IP58 in Z1 vs. IP68 Z3), Z3C is also much thinner and lighter with a larger display, better camera with 4K@30FPS video and it has Android4.4.4 straight-out-the-box. * +

The Z1 series phones did suffer from having poor quality Display panels, both Z1 and Z1 Compact got cheap inefficient panels and it shows in their battery life, both also used a much lower bin quality version of the Snapdragon 800 CPU, Sony have made big leaps this year in Display quality and Battery Life, from the Z2 to Z3 and Z3 Compact, lets not forget that the Z3 series also take advantage of Qualcomm's Quick Charge2.0 tech, they can charge from 0-50percent in just 30mins, and full charge in just oves 120mins, not bad at all. You'd be doing yourself a major disservice getting a Z1 Compact now. * +

for my first contract im abit weary and MTN can give you hell should they wish to be on your case. Have read countless notes of people with issues with them so 400 bucks is quite steep for it. Atleast i'll have better network compared to cellc. The pluses for z3 are quite impressive. But at the heart of it dont you get the same 16gb space, 2gb ram, same standards as far as 4g, NFC, LTE are concerned. the screen differences of 4.3 and 4.7 arent that huge. The advantages are compelling no doubt. * +

I'm not a fan of huge phones in as much as full HD screen is said to be the way to go. Thats why i've always looked at compacts and minis. 720p will have to do till the day I get compelled to go higher. Fingers crossed I don't get screwed, weird unexplainable surchages and all that jazz that are makings of a horror contract story coz I honestly don't have money to put up a banner as is the trend But yea can't wait to join the android bandwagon and I reckon a z1c is not a bad entrance *
