updated the firmware to kitkat via samsung kies a week ago and since ive done this I only get one hour battery life just web browsing over 3g. has anybody else had this issue? I may query it with Samsung on monday, but if they dont have any solutions I could be rolling back to jellybean, which actually doesnt concern me too much, but was just curious to know if anyone else has experianced simular problems after updating to kitkat on this tablet? * +

if it has knox on it you might not be able to go back !
if you can hook it up to a PC or it's rooted, go to mnt/data/system/ and delete the batterystats.bin file..
it's always said that this should be deleted when switching roms (google say that is nonsense tho).
no obvious results from a googling it... * +

..I've always liked 4.3 and kept even my previous Note 3 in that stock rom..somehow I still don't like 4.4 and up aaand am almost terrified with 5.0 and that stewpeed flat and material ui (design)..don't like it..and now back to battery life,imho,of course kitkat and all other 4 point 4.4.5.6 will use more battery,even more ram..cont * +

..my previous Z 2 (3 Gb ram) almost never used more than 1 Gb (on 4.4.2 though..but 4.4.3 aaand 4.4.4 are disaster,lol)..Z 3 with 4.4.4 worked with 1.5 Gb average..battery was fine on Sony,though..my previous Note 8.0 5100 I've kept with 4.2 (or 3..forgot) aand it worked almost like Nokia in the good old days,lol..a few days no charging.. * +

agree nokstern the problem has only arrised since I updated. Havnt had chance to look at it today but hey tomorrow is another day! *
