you can't install stuff to your EXTERNAL SDCARD,
this might be confusing for you as the internal memory is also referred to as the SDCARD..

you may have hidden files on your sdcard use root explorer app to show hidden files * +

actually @3mel is correct, you can't install games/apps on your external sdcard but once you have installed them THEN you can move them to external sdcard. you probably knew this already. * +

What phone do you have? and what Android version? As mel said, you can't install to External Memory, not since Android4.0 ICS, all goes to 'SDCARD' which is the phone's Mass Memory. In Samsung phones you have to go into the Application Manager in Settings and then move the apps and games to your external mem, even then, the complete file doesn't move, many apps like to leave the more important data in the internal SDCARD, thats just how Android is now. * +
