If there is an available update then Samaung Kies will do it all for you but as I think there is no official update for the s2 to 4.2.2 then you will have to root your mobile to use a custom rom, google XDA Developers * +

it can be great, like the inclusion of sound mods, battery efficiency tweaks or performance enhancements. but the thing to do is not rush. read the whole thread and see what issues ppl have found. although android is open source, the oem features usually are not. so you'd loose things like FM radio or hdmi support. you need to weigh it up for yourself. and ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP of your current rom with a custom recovery... * +

or you could see if there's 4.2.2 rom from s2 advance for your s2, so take the advice given and check out XDA. and backup and read instructions given! * +
