Is there a way to force my phone to use 3G and not use 3.5? I get a much better signal when using just 3G. * +

I have that too, but I think that is only to choose between 2G (not supported by by network provider, 3) and 3G or higher. http://i.imgur.com/PMUP4Kw.png * +

experiment with different modems and you may get better results. but this also means you may get worse

the earlier JB modems were really twitchy. when I had an s2 they were always switching constantly between 3G, H and H+ causing signal drop and battery drain. this was fixed in later JB modems. * +
