So I'm getting an S2 delivered tomorrow. Can someone post some guides or tips on the first things I should do? PC power user but I haven't used an Android OS before. Rooting and an OS upgrade (if it needs to be updated, I don't know?) advice would be appreciated. Cheers. * +

foa congrats mate ok check the os version in setting if 2.3 then get a custom or official rom of jellybean and you can root it too its good for apps like titanium backup some pirated games etv * +

Found this guide to update Jelly bean from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2. I have checked that it is the correct firmware version for my my phone (S2 19100XXLQ6, that's right, yeah?) but I read something about not doing it on a phone that is carrier locked or that has a locked bootloader. I've checked with a Virgin SIM card and it isn't carrier locked, but what about the bootloader?) * +
