ive just recently bought one of these, yes they are still available. its running android honeycomb which I understand was the only android version just designed for tablets. and its for this reason iam a bit reluctant to upgrade to ICS which is officially available as an update. does what iam saying make any sense? I know ICS is obviously better performance wise but is speed really the only requirement for a good operating system do you think? * +

iam told honeycomb makes better use of a tablet screen where as the later versions are really aimed at smartphones. but obviously iam going to have no choice but to upgrade eventually but iam wandering if I wait too long samsung may withdraw the ICS update for this tablet, so based on this fact should I upgrade now? opinions on this and honeycomb? * +

Whoever told you that was talking a load of rubbish. ICS is the combination of Gingerbread and Honeycomb, it actually has more Honeycomb influence than GB. Ive got ICS4.0.4 on my Galaxy Tab10.1v and it runs far better than Honeycomb. ICS was tailored to take better advantage of dual-core as well as using the GPU to do UI. If you stick to HC you will also miss out on ICS exclusive apps like Chrome, which runs beautifuly on tablets. * +

I don't think you are going to be downloading the same file even though the version number is the same, just like iOS for the iPhone and the iPad one is for phone the other a tablet * +

iam glad you just told me that polo011 because its just jogged my memory! I now remember them saying that ICS was going to be a combination of honycomb and gingerbread just before it was first released! sounds as though I should do the update while its there cheers for that! (I only do official updates anyway cant be arsed with all that routing stuff prefer less hassle lol) * +

honeycomb may have originally been aimed at tablets polo011, I found a website caled pc mag which says: february 3rd 2011: googles android 3.0 is a tablet only O.S for now a google spokesman said wednesday. he said: the version of honeycomb we have shown is optimised for tablet form factors. so maybe there is some truth in it after all? * +

yes leon29 but it also says that google have been struggling to make a good version for tablets since day one and it claims jellybean fits the bill. although ive never used jellybean myself iam not sure iam convinced of the fact that its aimed at tablets. * +
