So, there are quite a few free antivirus apps for the Android. The basic rule to follow is to set your app security to not install apps that are not from the Android Market. Also you don't have to be the first person that has that new app, just wait a month or so and then read the reviews. * +

That's why I suggested getting an antivirus and never being the first one to download an app and wait a month or so. As far as I am aware, no trojan horse has been on the app store for more than 35 days. Spyware is something else entirely, which is one reason why you need to read the reviews also. *
