well you could argue nokias 7650 was the first modern smartphone and certainly their first symbian device. but strictly speaking the first nokia communicator was the very first all in one device/smartphone and that goes back to the mid 90s! its just that it was so expensive it was out of reach of the ordinary guy on the street, being restricted to corporate types. (9000 communicator) but then at a data speed of 9.6kps or whatever it was you really were not missing much lol (I think the 9000 was around 1996 if I recall correctly) * +

b4 smartphone back the days,i was playing snake on Nokia 3310 and making midi ringtone lol, way bck in the 90s and from then i step up with whats new ever since. those days motorola and nokia was the popular brands i inherit my dad palm touch b4 color screen that was the worse it had a touch pen looks swaggy bck then * +

I remember when I had a nokia 1611 it was time to upgrade so I went to look at the all new singing and dancing 5110. 35 ring tones, games, astounding battery life, swappable covers and it even had a clock! and my god it was so small, made my 1611 look like a dinosaur! my first wap phones were the nokia 7110 and the mitsubishi trium. although the 7110 was called the matrix phone it was actually the 8110 banana phone that was in the film and not the 7110! both simular form factor though I guess * +
