rooting your phone is not the only way to unlock it just ask your network provider to unlock it * +

true, but the network will charge you for the code, usually 25 if you're on pay as you go. If you're on contract you'll have to pay off the contract before they give you the unlock code. Some networks will also only give the code to the original owner. I bought a second hand phone and 3 network wouldn't give me the code as I wasn't the original owner * +

i unlocked my htc desire in minutes and for free thanks to giffgaff.com. before doin it the only sim that worked was the contract sim on o2 now I can use any no probs * +
