@ garion not really bt i remember setting poweramp to include only media files and exlclude system files in its library it also displyed a warning that i should only set it like that if i only used poweramp to play my music...so i bet that mustve messed up my gallery.. * +

Yep, that sounds like it 
. I've seen the '.nomedia' warning from a few apps and usually deny the permission or manually zoom off and delete the nomedia files. Quickpic has a menu option to 'show hidden' so you can always see them anyway if necessary. * +

it's also a hell of a lot easier to move pics from one folder to another using it - on my Desire S at least I can't move files in gallery to another folder, I'd have to use a file manager, the only thing in the default gallery's favour is the rather cute panning and zooming slideshow function *
