In terms of hardware (Camera, CPU, GPU, RAM, Battery, Media support due to hardware, Connectivity speeds etc...) and UI optimization with hardware the Galaxy S2 is unrivald. The Galaxy Nexus has a much weaker CPU/GPU setup, awful battery life, no memory card slot and uses older AMOLED tech as Samsung havent begun producing HD SAMOLED Plus displays. * +

The Galaxy Nexus is a good phone though, and if you want the cleanest experience of Android with latest updates then get the Galaxy Nexus, its still very powerful just not as powerful as a GS2. * +

S2 has a much better camera 
but a smaller screen. I feel like s2 is more reliable. * +

Yep, better camera and smaller screen, but at 4.3inchs its still bigger than most. You could also consider both the HTC Sensation XE and Motorola RAZR, they arent as powerful as the GS2 but are still excellent Androids. Sensation XE has the Beats Audio headphones and the much praised SenseUI. Motorola RAZR has the best build quality, gorgeous design, same chipset as GNexus and is the thinnest smartphone around at 7.1mm. * +
