Its 50 years since the first mobile phone call was made it took 10 hrs to charge phone and it gave you 30mins lol my first one was a nokia not coloured no camera etc etc now they are mini laptops * +

The image was very different when I got mine. I think it was 1995, and it was a Motorola Flare with upgraded battery.
Pull-up aerial, calculator screen (no text messages then) and credit card size SIM.

Carrying it was limited, jeans needed big front pockets or inside coat pocket, but two other issues were a bigger problem.

Firstly, the reception was terrible pretty much everywhere, I got to know the few spots to stand in, if I was in with a good chance of waxing a quid every minute outside of evenings and weekends.

Secondly, they were very unpopular. I felt like an idiot, looked like an idiot, and this was turbocharged if it ever rang in a busy public place.

It looked like they weren't going to be accepted by society at that point. * +

Carrying my iphone now is awkward in my jeans as levi's have very shallow pockets if you just want to go out in tshirt n jeans and not take a bag * +
