If I recall correctly it was something to do with urgency. When you really, really NEED the toilet, it's kind of an all consuming thing which activates a sort of emergency default mode in your brain. This enables you to process information subconsciously, which in turn makes decision making easier whilst you're mostly busy concentrating on not soiling yourself. *
