They did it here where i live in the 1960s. A new city, designed and built from scratch to be what a city should be, without the problems of a traditional evolution.
But Milton Keynes grew surrounded by hate and derision. ''You can't simply build a culture.. it'll be sterile..'' etc. It got mocked for every detail people could pick at it for.
It never really bothered those of us who live here and helped build the place. Good luck to 'em. * +
