Meat alternatives are becoming increasingly accessible worldwide, including in the Middle East.

This month, UK-based vegan meat brand VBites announced its expansion into Spinneys a supermarket chain with locations across the UAE, Qatar, Lebanon, Oman, and Pakistan and Waitrose supermarkets in Dubai.

Earlier this month, UAE-based Halal food brand Al Islami, one of the biggest frozen food producers in the Gulf Cooperation Council, launched its first vegan burger. Simply named the Plant-Based Burger, the patty is made from a blend of proteins, including sunflower, fava, and pea.

According to the company, the burger was designed to appeal to meat-eaters in terms of taste and texture. It is also the first in a series of vegan frozen foods that the company plans to launch this year.

The demand for plant-based foods is booming in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Many consumers name health as the driving factor for reducing meat consumption. While additional market research is needed in the Middle East, evidence suggests that meat alternatives are gaining traction for the same reason. * +

Very interesting. As long as the agenda is not pushed, I think a much more healthier balance from eating only meat based products to incorporating more vegan products could drastically improve the well-being of people. * +

one time... I was starving and i found this super rotten dead goat.
It was still stinky, but no real meat to eat.
I smashed some of the slimy bones with rocks and boiled them up in my canteen with some bugs and ants.
With my newly acquired energy i made a spear tip from some dry bone.
I speared a feral cat and cooked it on the fire.
It gave me the sh*ts though.
Like full throttle turbosh*tting.
I only use cats for bait now.
Though i have heard they're good fleshlights if you declaw them.
Anyways...
I used the cats gut as bait and a bone hook i made to catch a goanna.
which i bashed on the head before chucking it in the fire.
It was fu*king delicio....
