When I worked on the roof I always wore a harness whenever near a hole. I didn't rely on the fall arrests. I don't know what the laws were, I just knew falls were everything so it's the one thing I was highly self-disciplined on. * +

one of my boys was paralyzed 3 weeks ago. he fell down a stairwell putting panels up. i could be facing a prison sentence for the accident, we moved the handrail, to put the stairwell panels up. but it was upto the site manager and his labourers to put the fall arrest in... ongoing dispute at the moment...

The hand rails are a safety device, if you removed them without replacing them with something else to prevent a fall then you could be liable. Doesnt matter who was ment to put the fall arrest in, if you worked knowing full well it wasnt in place then you are to blame aswell. *
