I'm just noticing this thread, and I love it!

It amuses me how strangely vicious and illogical people become when presented with reasonable arguments against their opinions. One would think that logical discourse begets more logic, but instead it draws the fire of platitudes, fuelled by the furnace of wilful ignorance.

And I agree with what other posters had said, that you have no control of how others will reply. I enjoy healthy debates and discussions, but it stops being fun when there is name-calling and accusations made.

And I get it that sometimes we lose our cool when having discussions especially when we know we are right (it happens with me a lot lol) but I don't go on and taunt them for being dumb or sl*t shame them etc

Probably try to see others perspective too, or maybe just respectfully disagree because the point to a conversation should be the presence of more knowledge and ideas and facts between two people. The point must not be about being right in the conversation. *
