Subject: Plural? Singular? I'm confused

Google has confused me so I came here. Need some clarification. Okay, I find sentences like this very confusing:
People should focus on their own life/lives. Is it life or lives?
Another example:
Snapchat is the only way I can get people send me cracking pics of their d*ck/d*cks without sharing my number.
Quite an example
But when saying such things, I'm never too sure whether to use the 'plural' or 'singular' form.
Can someone tell me which form of the word should be used when saying:
1) People should focus on their own life/lives.
2) We must do our work by ourself/ourselves.
3) Snapchat is the only way I can get people send me cracking pics of their d*ck/d*cks without sharing my number.
4) I hate when people poke their nose/noses in others business.
5) Some people have the kindest heart/hearts.
I feel SO brain-dead sometimes lol * +

People - lives
We - ourselves
People - dicks/noses/hearts
Now if you were to say 'person' instead of 'people'...
Our - more than one
My - one
You get the idea. * +

Both forms work? Ah, the joy of English! * +

That's what I thought, initially. Because people isn't singular, person is. But as for examples 1, 3, 4 and 5- even a group of people has 1 life, 1 nose and 1 d*ck etc for each person. So, shouldn't it be 'people should focus on their own life, hate when people poke their nose' etc?
