the not eating meat on friday thing is a working class catholic thing. Up untill about 1890 there was something like 168 days of the christian calander that you couldnt eat meat my mum being of irish decent was bought up a catlick so every friday was fish day. Incidently my dads lot were orange lodge proddies so when he took my mum home to meet the family there was trouble coz a catholic was in the house * +
