Nah the clocks dont actually go 'back' as in winter the time is GMT which is the standard time, the clocks fo forward to BST to give the farmers an extra hours light at night

Well God bless the farmers then lol ...I'm all for them going forward ....it's when we lose an hour I have issues lol * +

I thought it was something to do with kids going to school in the dark in winter ....clocks go back so they don't go to school in the dark ..or come home in the dark ....something like that

I thought it was for safety reasons too that when clocks go back in the autumn in UK, it means it's lighter in the morning and safer for people to go to work, for kids to go to school at a more user-friendly time. I didn't know the reason you had it was for farmers lol

Also, I didn't know that Australia followed it until I read kely's and birdy's reply. I thought only UK and US followed it what.gif * +

the extra hour of sleep is for one day only lol.gif
you go to bed at 11 and wake at 6, but when it gets to 2 o'clock it becomes 1 o'clock again hence the extra hour.

No because we go back to GMT which is actually the correct time, in the summer we are one hour ahead.
Heres a fun fact for you aswell, the royal family used to work to 'Sandringham Time' which was half an hour infront of the rest of the country *
