Sad but nothing particularly unusual, I hear you say. Except this time it was poached in a zoo near Paris. The animal was shot 3 times in the head and had it's horn cut off with a chainsaw by poachers who broke in overnight.

Even animals in zoo's aren't safe anymore. But it does say a lot bout the zoo's lack of security. When they are cadged for our well-being, so they can't get out and attack us. No one would think that we would be the attacker instead. * +

Saw a clip on the tube the other day, some bird posing with a rifle over a lion, the guy had set up the camera, which was producing the recording, but it wasn't straight. As he comes over to the camera he turns and shouts, she turns, screams and jumps out of shot - then a live lion jumps across the film only a second after her. Few seconds later, the lion comes back into shot, just strolling around his dead mate... * +
