Did you ever hear about the hundredth monkey theory?
A group of monkeys lived on a small Japanese island, one day one of them suddenly decided to wash the food it was eating (yams or potatoes) before she ate it. Her name was Imogen, very advanced among her kind. There were benefits to washing the yams, the grit that clung to them would no longer wear down their teeth.. Anyway, she had to go through a long process of convincing the male monkeys that washing the yams was a good idea. By the end of it they were all doing it.. And that's when (by some accounts) something strange happened. * +

The number of monkeys who were washing yams h*t a critical threshold of some kind.. Suddenly, it was observed that monkeys on another island nearby were also washing the yams before eating them

Carl Sagan said Imogen simply floated to another island on a piece of flotsam, but I always wondered if there was something more to it. Maybe it's a state of mind, maybe it's one that we will somehow strive to reattain. Look at humanity now, connected up like a web. Sharing everything until it all becomes one great homogenised blob. * +

As anyone else watched the monkey cam. Where they viewed for the very first time that our second cousins grieve over a lost one like we do. * +

No, but I looked into prehistoric burial rites and such. I don't think I still have my notes from that, but it was interesting. * +
