Do you know there are companies that sell expensive cables that promise to make what ever you connect them to better. For example HDMI cables that claim to give a punchier picture on your TV screen or improve the sound. Utter bollox! Also HIFI cables that claim to improve the sound quality. More bollox. Some of these companies are charging 50 pound or more per metre. * +

Speaker cables especially. Have you heard the nonsense about bi-directional cables ? I kid you not. Some manufacturers insist their cables have to be connected one way round only Orr they won't work! * +

And also expensive USB cables.. Oh lord the s**t talk some of these companies are talking just beggars belief they are claiming that they make audio signals better when connected to a USB audio DAC. It's digital FFS! It has error correction too! * +

It's a well known fact that digital cables such as HDMI and USB transfer information in digital format so the picture or audio quality will not be affected with very cheep cables. It will not make any difference. * +

Oh another thing those cheep cables that get supplied with audio equipment... They will sound exactly the same as the expensive ones that you can read about in magazines like what hifi. The claims they make about expensive cables I've heard are adding ... punch to the signal, making the timing of the track faster improving the dynamics of the music such bold claims are pure bulls**t. * +

If you could hear such differences then you can certainly measure them with test equipment but nobody has been able to do this with the exception of cables that are hundreds of metres long that get affected by resistance, capacitance and inductance and even this is not much. But the average consumer cable is about 1 metre long so it will never be affected. * +

Oh and lastly ... HIFI mains cables... Some companies claim that replacing the standard mains lead supplied with your equipment with a expensive bi-directional twisted pair super oxygen free one will make the sound better. It will magically widen the stereo image or make the bass more solid and improve dynamics! the wiring in your house and that going back to the electricity substation is basically cheep copper wire so how the fk is a couple of metres of expensive cable going to make * +
