Got a syringe and pushed hot soapy water through the drainage channel,it came out into the tub at the back I put a cotton bud down and it came out clean,the fridge is not even a year old I've bought one of those egg shaped freshner things hopefully the smell will fk off now.

My wife keeps (wood) charcoal wrapped in a piece of cloth, inside the fridge, this helps alot, but it takes a little time to eliminate the smell. give it a try. * +

It's a fridge and does not need defrosting.
