What should the role be?? Do u enforce your own rules on them?? How do u balance or stick to those rules when the kid has to go back home to mom where different set of rules apply and have to start all over again when they do spend time with their dad again?? Do u just roll with it n hope u do something right?? * +

I was a step kid and went on to be s step parent. The latter was a surprise because I always said I wouldn't do it.

It's a soul destroying task. You cannot be their parent, but you have to be their boss at times and yet friend.
