They are turning on now at 4 but few weeks back it was as early as 3.20ish. * +

The winter solstice passed on 21st December, so it will be getting 3 - 4 minutes lighter each day from thereon. * +

watched a program few months ago that was going on about the solstice, and that said after the winter solstice then you dont really see a difference in day light and night times untill january 12th or 18th cant remember which they said. Something to do with the sun sort of flat lines for a few weeks after the solstice * +
