I am getting al of the following components how big power supply do I need? MSI g31tm-p21 motherboard, Samsung 500gig sata, LG 24x Sata dvd - writer , Intel E5400 dual core, Apacer 2048 ddr2 ram, MSI NX8400GS. Will a 400W be enough?? * +

400W is enough, though it never hurts to have a higher power PSU if you wish to continue building as I do with my PC. * +

You can have a 800 watt and have problems where you won't have with a 400 watt. So if you buy a psu please just don't look at the WATTAGE but take a peak on its amps on the rails. The cheap ones put out a lot of heat with a low ampage output. So 800 watt will be a waste in such cases. The quality ones of the same WATTAGE you won't but to see which are and which ain't look closer than just the WATTAGE * +

the coolermaster 650w does me lovely with a q6600, 8GB ram, 2Gb ati 4890, 6 hard disks, a dvd drive, a tv card, a wifi card, 5 fans and some lights. I had one of those hiper type R 730watt psus but it died. *
