Pitch black. Starship troopers. Solaris is odd film. Check out something called appleseed as well. Cgi movies. There aren't really all that many western sci fi to recommend. If you are also open to japanese stuff like anime then there are loads more options. * +

Definately watch the 1964 movie Blade Runner, i hardly watch sci fi, and i thought it was great. Its got Harrison Ford in it. * +

I'm not sure when blade runner was made, but it definitely wasn't as early as 1964, i think it was early 80's, but yeah, its a great film. * +

The film came out in 82. Maybe she was getting it mixed up with the book 'Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep?' by Phillip K d*ck which Bladerunner was based on which came out in the 60's? * +
