Nokia - 2610 Review

2610

30th March 2006

Based loosely on the Nokia 2600, the Nokia 2610 is a significantly improved phone. The weight has been reduced by 5 grams to 91 grams, the screen is now a 128x128 pixel panel in 65,000 colours, up from 4096. Battery life is around 50% better with up to 3-5 hours talktime and 10-15 days standby time. The Nokia 2610 also adds an email client, and XHTML web browser, but like the 2600 it doesn't appear to support GPRS or EDGE, so connections are strictly dial-up only.

Also, there's no camera, media player or Bluetooth, but that's not a major consideration. Nokia say that the 2610 features a ''large screen'', although they don't give details of the screen size. Also, there 2610 comes with larger fonts to aid usability. Overall, this is a decent enough basic handset with enough flexibility to be useful in the markets that it's aimed at. In addition, the 2610 comes with a soft grip which should help protect it against knocks and dust. Nokia say that the 2610 will be priced around 75 euros before taxes and subsidy.
