Well-known series include DIABLO and various MYSTERY DUNGEON games. Heck, Diablo got so big that there is basically a Diablo-like subgenre too.

Even Psycho Mantis asked me if i like AZURE DREAMS after scanning my memory card on playstation 1. (i did not even know the name of the game genre back then). Had played Diablo at a friend's stepfather's work computer (Windows 95) by then too. Also SpurguX on his 386 (MS-DOS) some years prior. *

Off-Topic: I remember the Playstation version of Diablo taking lots of blocks on a memory card. Like 10 at least. (They only had maximum of 15 and ''multi-page'' memory cards couldn't hold more than 8 per page or they got stuck claiming they are full and refused to change the pages anymore) *
